Late-Start Audio

How to transcribe audio files with delayed starts or extended silences.

Late-Start Audio

If an audio file begins with 10 seconds or more of silence before the actual conversation starts, mark the beginning of the transcript with a timecode showing when the speech begins.

#

Formatting Requirements

  • Add a timestamp at the start of the transcript if there is a 10+ second delay before speech
  • Do the same at the end if there is a long silence after the conversation ends
  • Place the timecode clearly at the start or end of the transcript as needed

#

When to Use

  • Audio files with extended silence at the beginning or end
  • Recordings where the interview or conversation starts well after the recording begins
  • Any file where meaningful content does not start immediately

This helps clients quickly locate the start and end of important content in their transcripts.
